Sales & Application Specialist

The Sales & Application Specialist will be responsible for promoting and selling Real-Time PCR kits and related molecular diagnostic products while simultaneously providing technical application support to customers. The role combines business development with hands-on technical training, ensuring proper usage, validation, and troubleshooting of PCR assays at customer sites.
The candidate will work closely with microbiologists, pathologists, lab technicians, and procurement teams to increase product adoption and ensure customer satisfaction.
Required Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of Molecular Biology techniques
Hands-on experience in:
Real-Time PCR (qPCR)
RNA/DNA extraction
Primer/probe-based assays (TaqMan/SYBR Green)
Understanding of Ct values, amplification curves, and assay controls
Troubleshooting PCR contamination and inhibition
Familiarity with biosafety practices (BSL-2 labs)
Responsibilities
1. Sales & Business Development
Promote Real-Time PCR kits (e.g., TB, HPV, STI, respiratory, oncology panels) and related consumables
Identify new customers: hospitals, private labs, government labs, medical colleges, and research institutes
Achieve monthly and quarterly sales targets
Conduct product presentations and technical demonstrations
Prepare quotations, proposals, and tender submissions
Participate in exhibitions, conferences, and CMEs (Continuing Medical Education programs)
Maintain CRM and customer database
Follow up for purchase orders and payment collection support
2. Application & Technical Support
Install and commission Real-Time PCR assays at customer sites
Train laboratory staff on:
Sample preparation
Nucleic acid extraction
PCR setup
Instrument operation
Result interpretation
Perform assay validation and verification studies
Assist customers during NABL accreditation, validation, and regulatory inspections
Provide troubleshooting for:
Amplification failure
Contamination
Ct value variations
Instrument errors
Guide customers in internal quality control (IQC) and external quality assurance (EQAS)
3. Product Knowledge & Training
Conduct technical workshops and product seminars
Provide pre-sales technical consultation
Prepare training material, SOPs, and user manuals
Educate customers about assay sensitivity, specificity, and clinical significance
4. Market Intelligence
Collect competitor information (GeneXpert, Molbio, Roche, Qiagen, etc.)
Provide feedback on pricing, performance, and customer requirements
Suggest new product opportunities based on market demand
- 5. Coordination & Documentation
Coordinate with logistics for kit supply and inventory planning
Maintain installation reports and training records
Support tender documentation and technical compliance sheets
Assist regulatory/validation documentation if required
Educational Qualification
MSc in Microbiology / Biotechnology / Molecular Biology / Life Sciences (Preferred)
ORBSc with 2–4 years experience in molecular diagnostics
Experience
1–5 years in molecular diagnostics / PCR / IVD company
Prior experience in Real-Time PCR kits, GeneXpert, Truenat, or similar molecular platforms preferred
